The DICKOW NM-series magnetic drive pumps are designed for liquid process media used throughout hydrogen and Power-to-X value chains. Typical applications include LOHC carrier fluids, methanol, ammonia, e-fuels, as well as cooling and heat transfer fluids. Their hermetically sealed magnetic drive ensures emission-free operation when handling hazardous, toxic or flammable liquids. The three variants cover different installation and operating requirements: NMB provides a compact close-coupled solution, NML offers a versatile standard configuration, while NMR is designed for more demanding applications with higher pressure, temperature and capacity requirements.

Hydrogen and Power-to-X processes depend on a wide range of liquid process media and energy carriers used in production, storage, transport and downstream processing. The DICKOW NML, NMB and NMR chemical process pumps provide reliable and emission-free pumping solutions for these applications. While the pumps are not intended for the direct transfer of gaseous or cryogenic hydrogen, they are particularly suited for liquids associated with hydrogen value chains, including LOHC carrier fluids, methanol, ammonia, e-fuels, cooling fluids and heat transfer media.
All three pump types are horizontally installed, single-stage volute casing pumps with casing dimensions according to ISO 2858 and feature a hermetically sealed magnetic drive. Torque is transmitted contact-free through a permanent magnetic coupling, while the containment shell separates the pumped medium from the atmosphere. This eliminates the need for a conventional shaft seal and enables emission-free handling of hazardous, toxic or flammable process liquids.
Product-side shafts are supported by wear-resistant silicon carbide (SiC) plain bearings. Internal circulation dissipates heat generated by eddy current losses and ensures stable operating conditions. A wide selection of materials, including ductile iron, cast steel, austenitic stainless steels, duplex steels and nickel-based alloys, enables the pumps to be adapted to chemically demanding applications. All three variants are suitable for hazardous areas and comply with ATEX Category 2, Zone 1.
Within the series, each variant addresses different installation and operating requirements:
NMB – compact close-coupled design:
The NMB combines the pump and directly flange-mounted standard motor in a space-saving block design. Eliminating a separate coupling and coupling alignment simplifies installation and makes the NMB particularly suitable for compact skids, modular systems and space-constrained installations.
NML – versatile standard configuration:
The NML provides a conventional, flexible pump arrangement for a broad range of process applications. Its robust bearing concept, standardized dimensions and extensive material and configuration options make it a versatile choice for hydrogen and Power-to-X auxiliary processes where reliability, efficiency and flexibility are required.
NMR – for demanding operating conditions:
The NMR is designed for applications requiring higher performance and increased mechanical robustness. Its drive shaft uses oil-lubricated rolling bearings and the pump can be configured with options such as a heating jacket, centerline-supported casing for high-temperature service, an open impeller with wear plate and an inducer for improved suction performance. With capacities of up to 1,400 m³/h, heads up to 250 m, operating pressures up to 40 bar and temperatures up to 300 °C, the NMR extends the series into more demanding process applications.
Together, the NML, NMB and NMR series provides a scalable range of hermetically sealed process pumps for liquid media throughout hydrogen and Power-to-X applications, from compact modular installations to demanding industrial processes requiring higher capacities, pressures and temperatures.
The DICKOW NM series also includes NMX and NMWR for thermal-oil applications, as well as the NMT submersible pump, covering additional installation and operating requirements. For applications where a magnetic drive is not required, the NC series offers mechanically sealed alternatives without a magnetic coupling
