Stargate Hydrogen’s reported stack efficiency of 48 kWh per kilogram offers a practical route to lower green hydrogen costs. For a 5 MW installation, the comparison below estimates that integrating this performance could reduce LCOH from EUR 6.13 to EUR 5.91/kg in Germany from EUR 5.42 to EUR 5.22/kg in Finland, and from EUR 7.34 to EUR 7.08/kg in the Netherlands. At unchanged annual electricity input, that is a reduction of about 3.6% in all three locations.

The hydrogen economy is often discussed in terms of new applications: trucks, ships, steelmaking and energy storage. Yet established industrial users remain central to its development. A recent investment decision by Cosmo Energy and Iwatani in Japan illustrates the importance of connecting hydrogen production with identifiable customers—and why infrastructure investment should not automatically be equated with decarbonisation.

Hydrogen mobility in heavy-duty transport is entering a more practical phase. Two recent developments illustrate this shift particularly well: a new European industry initiative aimed at scaling hydrogen-powered trucking by 2030, and the public presentation in Warsaw of a Polish-built hydrogen tractor developed under the HySPARK project. At IAA Transportation in Hanover, some of Europe’s […]

Romania has taken an important step in implementing the EU Renewable Energy Directive – RED III – by introducing binding renewable hydrogen targets together with financial penalties for non-compliance. Law No. 181/2026, published on 28 August and in force since 31 August 2026, amends Romania’s existing hydrogen legislation and introduces a clearer compliance framework for renewable […]

The global hydrogen market is beginning to show signs of a transition from the announcement-driven boom of the early 2020s to a much more selective phase of actual project delivery. Two developments now appear to be taking place simultaneously: some of the world’s largest hydrogen projects are moving into construction or commissioning, while projects without […]

Hydrogen-powered mobility is gaining momentum in Europe, and the German city of Krefeld is set to become another strong example of this transition. Solaris Bus & Coach has won a new tender to supply 19 hydrogen buses to SWK Mobil Krefeld, the city’s public transport operator. The order includes two models from Solaris’ zero-emission portfolio: […]
